Where can I buy watch parts?

Published on Aug 5th, 2009 under Buying Watches.By zalman1

Watch parts can be very easily sourced from a variety of places including your local high street, local mall or on the internet.

However, before buying any new parts for a watch, people  should ask themselves if they really need to buy parts, or should they get their watch professionally repaired.

This depends on the problem with the watch. If it is a new strap that is needed, then the average person should be able to buy a new one and fit it themselves. If it is something more complicated, such as a new battery, a broken glass, or even some problem with the mechanism, then it would be wise for the average person to seek a skilled watch repairer.

Having stated this, many people do repair minor problems with their watch quite successfully. There are numerous places where someone can research their particular watch brand and model and then simply order the parts required. In these days of the internet, it must be said that the most powerful research tool a person can use is online. There are many sources of information available such as forums and blogs.

It must be stated however, that if someone were to damage his or her own watch whilst trying to repair an overly complicated problem, there is NO warranty. The responsibility lies solely with them. With this in mind it would be wise for anyone contemplating buying watch parts to fix a watch themselves to have a long hard think about the possible consequences before they start. It just might be easier and cheaper to get the job done properly buy a professional.
